Why you shouldn't give your pets table scraps!
By Dr. Karen Thompson 18 Nov, 2015
So many times stray animals have come into our clinic, most definitely belonging to someone. Good Samaritans find them on the side of road, or wandering through their yards. They bring them in hoping to find their owners. A high percentage of these pets do not make it back home. Why? Because They do not have mircochips! Without a chip these animals are labeled as strays. Some come to vet clinics, where we try to do some detective work to find where they belong, while others go to the humane society. The lucky cats, or dog are adopted out, but the unlucky ones are unfortunately euthanized due to pet over population. Microchipping your pet is the easiest way to ensure that your pet comes back home. When a pet is checked for a chip, the wand throws out a number where you can look online or call to see if the pet belongs to anyone. Then the family is contacted and given the information about their lost pet. Why take the gamble that your pet won't get out?
